Thinkers and the Brave.
Invest in yourself.
Interact with art, and you make an investment. You build the home your mind, body, and self will have at the end of the day and for the rest of your life. You’ll think, do, and be things from that home. You’ll have to think, and to have the best home you can make you’ll have to be brave.
My concrete poetry offers a bespoke materials. It comes out of motionless books with shape and color to create something unique to you. Use it as a drafting tool to create your own blueprint. Approach it as wood studs and sheetrock to build a window for a wall, and see the world while you look out from a different perspective. Build a fireplace you can enjoy warming yourself near for years. Put together a rack to hold the wood you need to feed your fire. Add a mantel to display perspectives of yourself to others. Create the staircase in front of the home in yourself that brings you out into the world.
Hold it in reserve for “that day” when you’ll need it.
With or without these tools, you will build because you’ll think. Art offers us the chance to build with intent, getting closer to the exact home we want. To build we must invest, and to invest we must be brave. Only the brave can risk looking at what exists, see the potential, and dare to invest in making it happen.
